THE DANISH LANGUAGE
Danish (dansk) is one of the North Germanic languages (also called Scandinavian languages), a sub-group of the Germanic branch of the Indo-European languages. It is spoken by around 6 million people, mainly in Denmark; the language is also used by the 50,000 Danes in the northern parts of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany where it holds the status of minority language.
Danish also holds official status and is a mandatory subject in school in the Danish territories of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which now enjoy limited autonomy. In Iceland and Faroe Islands, Danish is taught as a compulsory foreign language in schools. There are also Danish language communities in Argentina, the U.S. and Canada.
THE DUTCH LANGUAGE
Dutch (Nederlands) is a West Germanic language spoken by around 24 million people, mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium and Suriname, but also by smaller groups of speakers in parts of France, Germany and several former Dutch colonies. Sometimes called the smallest world language, it is closely related to other West Germanic languages (e.g., English, West Frisian and German) and somewhat more remotely to the North Germanic languages.
Dutch is the parent language of several Dutch-based creole languages as well as of Afrikaans, one of the official languages of South Africa and the most widely understood in Namibia. Dutch is also an official language of the European Union and the Union of South American Nations.
THE FINNISH LANGUAGE
Finnish (suomi or suomen kieli) is the language spoken by the majority of the population in Finland (92% as of 2006) and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. It is one of the official languages of Finland and an official minority language in Sweden. In Sweden, both standard Finnish and Meänkieli, a Finnish dialect, are spoken. The Kven language, which is closely related to Finnish, is an official minority language in Norway.

Foreign Language Training
Learning another language has many advantages: you can find your way around new countries; you can understand emails, press releases and newspaper articles in a new language; you can conduct business and make presentations to foreign clients; but perhaps best of all, you can really get to know your foreign work colleagues and clients, and they will appreciate that you have made the effort – and then the world’s your oyster!
We offer a completely flexible approach to language learning. We understand that people benefit from learning a language in a way that suits them, at their own speed, at a time and on a day which fits their work schedule.
Our professional trainers realise that some people may have had bad experiences at school and are wary of the word ‘grammar’, whereas others are keen to know how a language is put together. We aim to ensure that any foreign language training you undertake with us is both enjoyable and effective.
We will carry out a Training Needs Analysis, to assess any prior knowledge of your chosen language and to find out what you want to achieve and the timescales involved. The course and materials are then tailor-made, so that the training reflects your learning style and you acquire the skills you need in the shortest time, thereby ensuring the training is also cost-effective.
There are three main types of training format:
Drip-feed training:
Regular, weekly training sessions of two hours’ duration are often ideal when there is no urgency to learn a language, especially for groups in the workplace.
Intensive courses:
A series of intensive days or a full week is good when there is a need to achieve a particular level by a certain date, perhaps because of a new export role, before a job posting abroad or as a ‘kick-start’ to a drip-feed training course. Busy managers often find it easier to blank a week from their diary and escape ringing phones to immerse themselves in the language learning process.
Immersion training:
Fancy learning French in Bordeaux, Czech in Prague or Spanish in Madrid? This form of training suits those wanting to make rapid progress, because you are immersed in the language and culture of your chosen country and get an immediate opportunity to practise your new skills.
We can provide training at your home or office, at other UK venues or in most major cities worldwide, if required.
All our training conforms to the National Language Standards and we can prepare students for various language qualifications including the London Chamber of Commerce’s FLAW, the OCR’s examination in business language competence and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
Our trainers have many years’ experience of developing and providing language training courses for business and professional people. We look forward to your call if you would like to put their skills and enthusiasm to the test.
