THE PERSIAN LANGUAGE
Persian is an Indo-European language spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan. Persian and its varieties have official-language status in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. There are approximately 72 million native speakers of Persian in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and about the same number of people in other parts of the world speak Persian. UNESCO was asked to select Persian as one of its languages in 2006.
THE POLISH LANGUAGE
Polish (język polski, polszczyzna) is spoken by most of the 38 million inhabitants of Poland and is the most spoken West Slavic language. There are also native speakers of Polish in western Belarus and Ukraine, as well as in eastern Lithuania, southeastern Latvia, northern Romania, and the northeastern part of Czech Republic.
THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE
Portuguese (português or língua portuguesa) is a Romance language that originated in what is now Galicia (Spain) and northern Portugal from the Latin spoken by romanised Pre-Roman peoples of the Iberian Peninsula (namely the Gallaeci, the Lusitanians, the Celtici and the Conii) about 2000 years ago.
Today it is one of the world's major languages, ranked 4th according to number of native speakers (approximately 250 million). It is the language with the largest number of speakers in South America, spoken by nearly all of Brazil's approximately 186 million population, which amounts to over 51% of the continent's population even though it is the only Portuguese-speaking nation in the Americas.

Language information and mistakes
• Although Hindi is rated as the third most widely spoken language in the world, English is actually the most commonly used in India. It is the official language for trade and tourism, government, the media and secondary and university education. Officially more than 200,000 Indians have English as their mother tongue. Furthermore, large numbers (40 million plus) use it as their daily working language.
• The world's most translated item is the Holy Bible. The current version is the product of a number of translations and re-translations all undertaken by monks in the Middle Ages, mostly from Latin. It is said that a monk might have devoted his entire monastic life to translating and crafting his allocated book.
• NASA's Voyager which is now heading at great speed towards the nearest galaxy has a message on board for any aliens who may stumble across it. The message was devised by a team of experts and had to communicate in the simplest way some essential information about us earthlings. This taxed the brains of the NASA team for more than two years before they came up with something considered suitable. It has to be hoped that the Alien Translation Company given the task of interpreting this take an appreciably shorter time to make sense of it and get the work back!
• In German, it is important to spell the small word "sie" correctly, it means "she" or "they". When spelt with a capital "S", however, it is the polite address form for "you". Accordingly, the following German sentence:
Wenn die Seitenwände aus Metall bestehen und starr montiert sind, können
Sie durch ein nichtmetallisches Material ersetzt werden.
This means in English:
"When the sidewalls are made from metal and rigidly mounted, you could be replaced by a non-metallic material."
